In the Beginning there was hissubmissivek & HerDominant
The founders of Nightmare in Wax began after k experienced third degree burns from commercially available candles sold in Adult Stores. She loved temperature play, but didn’t love the results and with years of experience crafting soaps, body washes, hair products and make up, it wasn’t too far of a leap for k to foray into body safe candles made specifically for sensual experiences, especially with the unwavering support of her Dominant, B.
In 2015, Nightmare in Wax burst into the scene, changing their name from k’s Creations and attending events and markets in the Sydney and New South Wales area. From that very moment k‘s enthusiasm and passion for safer wax play, paired with her warmth and educational flair, garnered a cult-like following from everyone that came into contact with her – and it was easy to see why people kept coming back.
Unlike anything else on the market at the time, k had developed a product that offered variables that could carter to everyone – and better still, pulled away from the classic black/red palette of the BDSM scene. This encouraged playful expression, and soon these candles were winging their way internationally, humbly handmade by k.
After 7 years of pouring wax, hauling candles and helping people discover the joys of temperature play, in 2022 k and B decided that it’s time for a change and that they would be passing the flame of Nightmare in Wax over.

And then along came Kell
Kell is an OG Waxette, from being involved in the early photoshoots to helping k at the markets.
He is a transmasc human located on Awabakal and Worimi Land. His ideals align with the concept of community, diversity, advocacy and representation – as well as safety and quality.
Kell has taken Nightmare in Wax to Newcastle Kink Fest, OzKinkFest (Sydney), OzKinkFest (Melbourne) and is always looking for new opportunities to find markets.
